Comfort Food Community awarded NYS HPNAP Grant

DSCN1915

We are excited to announce that Comfort Food Community was one of several organizations whose grant proposals for Food Recovery were selected by the state of New York: http://www.governor.ny.gov/…/governor-cuomo-announces-more-…

From our founding, making fresh food, especially locally grown fresh food, available to low-income families has been one our top priorities. It is gratifying to have the State of New York recognize the importance of addressing hunger with healthy food and to now have the resources to make that happen at a larger scale.

While this funding means that we will be able to expand our Gleaning and Fresh Food Pantry programs, it doesn’t diminish our commitment to all of our other programming areas – the Greenwich and Cossayuna food pantries, the Greenwich Community Garden, the YES! Backpack Program, youth education through the Lukey Fund – or our vision for establishing a Community Food Center in Greenwich.

Those programs, and that vision, are still central to who we are and how we serve the community.

Your support is what put Comfort Food Community in position to even be considered for this funding and will be what sustains all of our programming into the future. Thanks for everything you’ve done to make this possible
