About the Recipe

A 20-minute one-pot meal that is jam-packed with flavor for those busy nights that you don’t want to worry about dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbs oil

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • 1 tsp ground ginger or 1/2 tsp fresh grated ginger

  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

  • 1 cup grated carrot

  • 1/2 onion, chopped

  • 1/2 pepper, chopped

  • Optional: Add more vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, and kale

Preparation

  1. Heat oil in a skillet. Add in vegetables, season with salt and cook for a few minutes or until translucent. Remove cooked veggies.

  2. Add more oil to pan and add in beef, crumbling as you cook it, and saute until brown, 4-5 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  3. Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk together sugar, sesame oil, and soy sauce. For a spicier dish, add sriracha or red pepper flakes.

  4. Add in garlic and ginger and cook for an additional minute.

  5. Add vegetables back into pan.

  6. Stir the sauce into the beef and vegetable mixture and simmer for 2-3 minutes or until the sauce is heated through and thickened.

  7. Enjoy over rice or noodles
